What can you say about “Arthur”?

It had loomed large in my imagination, because its existence baffled me, and the story of how the film (and its Oscar-winning theme song) came together and succeeded is so haphazard.

Dudley Moore and Liza Minelli are charming as hell, and it’s a lot funnier than I had anticipated. The story is predictably flat and formulatic, but it’s saved somewhat by the relationship between Arthur and Hobson, which was unexpected and sweet.
